MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.
Producers transforming cooking oil into biodiesel currently take advantage of a 20p differential however that is due to end next April.
The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been consulting with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.
Mr George said "a variety of small companies in Cornwall presently make cash from used cooking oil".
He added: "In order to be able to get this type of industry going it does need just a bit of lift which comes in the form of tax inescapable."
Biodiesel is a mix of standard diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
